A Letter from Jonathan KrohnI AM A REALIST. I AM A CONSERVATIVE realist. I cling to logic, morality, and history, and I apply them consistently. I find no reason not to apply them; after all, if something is true, then is it not wise to give it proper credence? It is not only proper, but it is also in our best interest. To know the truth leads to a more potent and effective solution. Often falsities plague society with the equally false premise that they give us effective solutions, but in all actuality they hurt society. Defining Conservatism is more than a collection of my beliefs, it is a collection of my thoughts. The chapters in this book were not created to be mindless reading; they were created to be thought-provoking and accessible for all readers. I consider Defining Conservatism to be more than a timely book imbued with virtues and values, but to be a timeless book of facts and logic. Between the covers of this book is my credo and, more importantly, Conservatism’s credo. I am not here to force anyone to believe anything; I am here to present the solutions, ideas, ideals, facts, philosophy, and principles of Conservatism. I believe that, first and foremost, Conservatism must be made up of philosophy and principles and, secondly, policy. This book covers both facets of politics. In conclusion, I hope that by reading this book your understanding of Conservatism will, in turn, grow. It is my sincere belief that I have accurately and effectively portrayed the principles and philosophies of the Conservative movement and Conservatives, in general, in Defining Conservatism. HAPPY READING,
